How much does a padel court cost in the UK?
A single outdoor padel court in the UK typically costs £45,000 to £80,000 all in. About half of that is the court and its lights; the rest is the base, groundworks, power and fees. A canopy adds roughly £62,000 to £80,000 more.
Where the money goes
These are the ranges UK guides and suppliers publish for one outdoor court. Your site, access and specification move every line.
| Item | Typical UK cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Court structure (frame, glass, mesh, turf) | £25,000–£60,000 | Panoramic club courts sit at £40,000–£60,000 |
| Delivery and installation | £3,000–£15,000 | Depends on crew, access and whether it is bundled |
| Groundworks and base | £12,000–£18,000 | Level, free-draining site; sloping or wet ground adds £5,000–£15,000 |
| LED floodlighting | £6,000–£12,000 | Fixtures, columns, cabling and commissioning |
| Canopy (single court) | £62,000–£80,000 | Supplied and installed; planning needed |
| Smart gate access with light control | ≈ £6,600 | Plus about £700 a year maintenance (LTA guidance) |
The LTA's own benchmark for one outdoor court with lights is about £71,000: roughly £36,000 for the court and lights and £35,000 for the base, ducting and drainage.
What the LTA expects
For courts funded with an LTA loan, the LTA's minimum specification includes 12 mm toughened glass with a BS EN Kitemark on each panel, galvanised steelwork with at least 5 years' corrosion warranty, a court warranty of at least 10 years, floodlights giving 300 lux on average for recreational play, and quotes from at least three contractors. It also recommends a remote gate access system.
Panoramic or not?
Full panoramic courts drop the vertical posts from the glass walls, which gives spectators and cameras a clear view and is what most new UK clubs build. They cost more than courts with posts. A middle option is panoramic glass with reinforced steel corners, which adds stiffness on exposed or windy sites.
Running costs and payback
UK venue models use a blended rate of about £28 per court hour (£24 off-peak, £36 peak) and an 8% booking platform fee. At 55% utilisation that is about £84,000 of revenue per court a year; in competitive areas utilisation of 35–40% is more realistic. Published payback ranges run from 18 months to 5 years.
| Running cost | Per court, per year |
|---|---|
| Routine maintenance | £400–£1,000 |
| Installer aftercare | £800–£1,500 |
| Glass replacement fund | ≈ £1,500 |
| Booking platform | ≈ 8% of revenue |
What a REBOUND court costs
Our packages include installation and run from £49,500 for the Core court to £67,800 for Signature with RGB neon and smart access. A Pro court with smart access pays back in about 1.9 years on the assumptions above, including £8,000 of site works. Outdoor courts sit on a 35 cm steel platform, so nothing is cast in concrete and the court can be moved later.
